Learning Management System

Anand Software and Training recently released Learning Management System, named Learning and Assessment System (LAAS) with rich features and options. The software consists of four main modules, names, 1) the author module, 2) the exam engine, 3) the content engine, 4) the Stats and reports engine. Further third party Collaboration plug in is provided using GITSI.

Author Engine: The authoring software is responsible for populating the content by authors. The could be multiple authors working on the system. The figure shows selection process for a multiple choice question. The authoring software is quite expansive and allows content to be added in several formats, including html, rich text, audio, video, and youtube formats.

Exam Engine: The Learning and Assessment exam engine provides test delivery to the candidates. It could work both off line and on line modes. Some features such as proctoring are available only in online mode, understandably. The exam engine has rich features including proctored exams, geo location, screen capture, etc to prevent cheating during the exam by the candidates.

Support for several methods are given. These include, multiple choice questions type exam, and paper-pen exam. The questions papers could be selected online by authors and downloaded at different test centers online.

The paper-pen exam provides conventional testing method wherein a candidate write the exam using pen and paper and upload the same using app available (scanning the answer sheet). The scanned answers sheets are then evaluated by a human and the grade is computed online. The answer sheets are available for re-valuation if necessary.

Content Engine: The Learning and Assessment Content Engine delivers courses online to the candidates. The content engine supports various formats including html, rich text, multimedia, youtube videos, etc. The lessons could be arranged such that the candidates could take the same according to a time bound plan. The figure shows a screenshot of the content engine start up screen. The demo download contains a couple of lessons for demonstration purpose. As may be seen, the software is rich in features and allows frequent update as required by using IMPORT function.

Collab Engine:
The Collaboration engine is a third party plug-in. A Open Source GITSI software has been used for this purpose, which is feature rich and most widely used by several organizations. The features that are supported by the software include chat, video collaboration, voice, file sharing, and scheduling. The screenshot beside shows GITSI software plugged into the Learning and Assessment System. Know more about collaboration engine by visiting the product page. Reports and Stats module: The reports and stats module provides a thorough analysis of the exam with several features. One would be able to see which questions are answered and unanswered, time taken for correctly asnwered, incorrectly answered, or unanswered questions, etc. The results are saved on a centralized server and available over the Internet/intranet.

A typical results screen is shown here. The admin will have access to the full details of the LMS system including author panel, student panel, exams panel, content panel, and stats panel.
Overall, the Learning Management System is feature rich and fully configurable. The software is available currently in Windows and Android. Author pane is supported only in Windows computers, where as the player is available for Windows and Android.

Licensing: As of now, the licenses are given on per computer basis. Probably, the LMS system offered by Anand Software and Training is the cheapest LMS available. Please download the demo version from the LMS System home page.
